A bit of history of the Hanspaulka

Hanspaulka is one of the largest and most important homestead in Dejvice. As a residential area was founded in the 20th years of the 20th century on the place of vineyard. Was named after Mr. Hans Paul Hippmann, inspector of archbishop properties, who let build in 1733 a baroque mansion Hanspaulka, which we can find in Šárecká street.

With the Hanspaulka were and will be conected famous people like a actress Lída Baarová, the former premier protoctorate government - general Alois Eliáš, a tennis player Jan Kodeš, a Czechoslovak communist politician Alois Indra, a former communist politician Lubomír Štrougal and Václav Klaus, who temporarily lived in a governmental residence here.
